29 Food, Beverage, and Grocery Companies Achieve Perfect Scores on 2018 Corporate Equality Index
Kellogg, Hormel, Tyson, ConAgra — these are just some of the Fortune 1000 companies who achieved perfect scores on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for 2018.
Since 2002, the Human Rights Campaign has been rating workplaces on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer equality. This year, 609 employers achieved perfect scores, among them 29 food, beverage, and grocery companies.

The CEI measures businesses with 500+ full-time employees according to the following criteria:
Non-discrimination policies across business entities
Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families
Internal education and accountability metrics to promote LGBTQ inclusion competency
Public commitment to LGBTQ equality
This year, companies across industries made large strides. Almost all of the rated companies have non-discrimination policies, which the Human Rights Campaign calls “the most foundational step for a business to become more inclusive of LGBTQ employees.” A full 95% provide employment protections on the basis of sexual orientation, and 93% on the basis of gender identity, both US and globally. For comparison, in 2002, when the CEI was launched, only 5% of companies met this criterion.
